Fashion Overdose perhaps...

THE CITIZENS OF THIS WORLD  are divided into two categories - the stylish set and the normal people. Well, to the fashion set, at least. Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about folks who take pride in the way they look. Rather, this class of fashion "elites" are those who think they are above everyone else and judge people purely by which season's Ferragamo lace-ups they have on their feet.

The one issue I have with these fashion snobs is the constant need to be styled all the time. Most days, they look like they belong with the residents of Capitol City in the Hunger Games  fully decked in Capitol Couture to the point that it invites ridicule and scorn. Perhaps working in the fashion industry affords their inner Princess Beatrice more opportunities to air their toilet seats.

Seemingly, these "fashionista" live in a dimension parallel to ours ; we walk the same earth but we see very different things. To us, we look perfectly acceptable, but to them, we are style plebeians.

Someone once quoted the "this stuff" speech by Miranda Priestly from Seminal fashion snob fashion film The Devil Wears Prada. If you haven't got the clue as to what I'm referring to, look it up on the YouTube. Its frequently used to validate the industry and elevate it on a pedestal higher than Charlotte Olympia heels. In fact, you could replace certain words in the speech with mundane words like "pencils" and "China" and that speech would be applicable to every other industry. Do people seriously think the revolves around the clothes we wear?

A colleague and I were discussing how we people working in an industry that thrives for fashion, also see the world differently from others. We may not judge them on the brands they wear but we nitpick the minute details like the cut of their jeans, the 10-year-old school T-shirts that have been worn down to the muslin and their Crocs. There is no excuse for Crocs. Ever. I digress, but you get my drift. Does prolonged exposure to fashion turn one into snob?

Sure, people should dress appropriately and take pride in the way they look  a good sense of style goes a long way. I also believe someone who makes the effort to dress up deserves more attention than the dude who throws on cargo shorts and slippers. But let's not forget that too much of something is rarely a good thing.

The best way to judge someone's style is through the eyes of an average man standing on the outer rims of the fashion universe. If he says you look good in your attire, you probably look decent enough for the real world. But if he is asking what the fuck you are wearing, it's time for a review. Check out wtfywt.tumblr.com and you will know what I'm talking about.

What is V-Day to Men?

Oh, St.Valentine, if you knew your love letter and romantic acts would one day be celebrated by cheesy bouquets and mass-produced gifts, would you  still have been the medieval version of Casanova? I like to think that the martyr of romance - had he seen our current practice of proclaiming love by presenting plants to each others(I mean, seriously) - would you have turned up his nose and flounced away in his vintage bloomers and robe. Forget V-Day, it's more of D-Day to us men. Here's the reason why :

YOU MEASURE OUR LOVE

Judging us based on presents and dinner plans(specially the materialistic one) for one day is just plain unfair. To us, Valentine's Day is a label popped on a day that really isn't out of the ordinary otherwise. We don't need the ruffles and Champagne to show how much we love you - we already know how beautiful those sparkling eyes that we are staring at 24/7 and how special you are in our circle of life(although there some guys who is just aiming for something down south). These frills and bows are here because you need to remember how much we care, and it sucks. It feels like you've stuck a price tag on our feelings.

MORE DRAMA THAN THE  VMAs

Sadly, nothing brings out the insecurities in people more than a celebration of love. While you ladies compare the sizes of your bouquets and diamonds(admit it), we are doing the same - with our paychecks. Why else would girls tore wilting roses or giant stuffed toys down the Orchard Road, hand in hand with a smug boyfriend? It's supposed to be a day of love, but it has become nothing but a catty display of your partner's success and wealth.

SINGLES HAVE MORE FUN

I've only spent one Valentine's Days in my whole life(for now) as a attached man and, boy, being single on this day rocks. There's no pressure to buy the right presents, no squinting to each other over a candlelit dinner(next to 20 other couples), and no fights at all. Instead, you can meet up with your single friends, eat your heart out at an entirely unromantic place with amazing food, and party all night long after that. Who's with me?

What makes you think You'eve found The One

The BIG Question

Call me a hopeless romantic, but I've always believed that somewhere out there there is someone perfect for each of us. Do you know that the Greek playwright Aristophanes once explained the idea of soulmates with a story which I've held very close to my heart. Man originally had four arms, four legs and a single made with two faces. The Greek gods were threatened by humans great strength, so Zeus split them in half. Each human would then long forever for his or her other half until the day they were united. While his interpretation might be a tad idealistic, I think the search for your dream match makes life more meaningful, and when you finally find her you'll cherish her even more. Here are the 3C for my dream girl : Comfort, Chemistry and a lot of Cuddling. With your soulmate, you should be completely at ease. Neither would have their walls up, be on their guard or put on false front. There would be no need to - this person will love you and want you for who you are, no strings attached. If she trusts me enough to confide in me, share her opinions, feelings and thoughts openly, it'll mean a lot to me. That level of confidence is not easily achieved. Chemistry isn't something you can fake or pretend to feel. It's almost magical, the way you instantly click with someone and see their point of view. Even if you disagree, you totally get where they're coming from and accept it. There are couples who are so in sync, they're able to finish each others sentences. Personally I like attentions and cuddling. Physical attention is a human need, and when we receive it from the right person, we naturally feel happy. To feel that electrifying zing of attraction, affection and contentment all at the same time is amazing. It sounds corny when put into words, but it's absolutely true. A hug, kiss, snuggle expresses everything you feel for someone without having to say a single word.

There you have it. If you've felt this, congratulations, because you've have found The One. (=^_^=)

Double Standards ??? Seriously...

So, he's not allowed to see his girl buddy but you're always hanging out with your guy friend. What's up girl?

Everybody knows the basic rules of a relationship - always be open and honest, don't lie or cheat, and always give and take. Sometimes, there are further expectations, and small requests may be made by either of you to strengthen the relationship. However, if you expect or demand your partner to behave in a way that you don't demonstrate yourself, you're guilty of having double standards.

You have lots of guy friends but he can't have girl friends?
This is a slight paranoia that someone might come and snatch your partner from under your nose is always there, regardless of how happy and secure the two of you are. But when you expect your boyfriend to sever all the ties with his girl friends while you wander around town with your boys, it shows a huge mistrust in not only the people he's hanging around with, but also with your partner. Before you tell your guy how you feel, take a moment to wonder why you can't stand your boyfriend being around other girls - is it because they're too touchy-feel with him? Or is it due to his flirtatious nature? Instead of making your boyfriend avoid contact with girls, why not talk to him about what unsettles you instead, and come to a compromise together.

He's forgotten your little misdemeanors but you remember all of his.
You've had your fair share of messing up but when he forgets to do something as trivial as washing the dishes, you bring up everything that has nothing to do with what just happened, like that last time he forgot your birthday or was caught looking at another girl. When the table flips and he brings up your mishaps, you throw a fit. Emotional blackmail and guilt trips are not cool ( TOTALLY NOT COOL). If you find yourself bringing up every little thing just so you can have the final say in the argument, you're doing it wrong. When your say you're about to forgive and forget, you need to do just that. Be adults about it and set some ground rules : Keep the arguments to the point and make sure you don't stray too far away from it - bringing up past fights will only cloud the issue at hand. So own up to your mistakes, don't get too defensive, accept that we all mess up sometimes and understand that he's not going to love you any less. Keep calm and carry on

I can't help but let you know

Hey there girl. Seeing you reading this now means you have already clicked on the link I provided on your inbox. How are you doing today? Must be another wonderful day right? (^_^)  It's another tiring day for me if you would ask me. Tired and miserable legs..Awuuu. . .

So,

Are you wondering why do I lead you here? The answer is simply. The inbox is too complicated plus it's too darn long to read. (Hahaha....I'm just joking) I just thought It would be easier for me to get it done over here instead of the inbox.

I am not good in putting words together but I will  just make it simple.
Remember couple of days back then, I was thinking to telling you something ?
Yea... That's right, you remember it. So, yeap...I was contemplating should I say it or whatsoever. But I guess I'll just say it. (>\\\<)

I found myself thinking...yea.. I mean THINKING or maybe having thoughts about you. Funny enough... There is this girl who worked across the place I worked, and she looks exactly like you in a glance(after a long run finding out why was she so familiar to me). As day passed by, glance by glance and glance again, she reminds me of someone I knew back in my friend but I just couldn't figure out who was that. Why does this girl image appears in my mind? Clueless. . . .

So,

I started scrolling on each and everyone of my friend list account hoping to find an answer until I stopped by at your timeline, clicked on your pictures and scrolled few photos and I found the answer.

The image of the girl that keeps appearing in my mind for this long time was actually YOU(that's right, it was you) I found out about this even before we started talking on the chat room and so on. It really amaze me at some point. Why was your image deeply resided in me. . . ? ?

I didn't bother too much about it back then since I only wanted to find out who was it. Life goes on as usual for me, Seeing her everyday reminds me of you again and again and again. Until...  something... seems to grew inside of me. I would say....my feelings towards that image(which is YOU). Sadly enough I am not confident to take any action as I have no idea what's the status on the other side.

By chance, I saw your post at FB saying "thank's for wasting my five months time" ...I was like, oh dear, that post sounded really ughh(know what I mean?) I thought I would pop by and lend you a comfort as a friend in the list. Didn't know how would you reacted too. Surprisingly, you gave me a pleasant feel. The warm feeling that don't happen often (laugh)

Well, from there it begins my conversation with you...

I just wanna to tell you that, I HAVE LIKEN YOU EVEN BEFORE I MET YOU.(which is weird eh)
Sounds cheesy? Hahaha... don't get me wrong girl. Because I am not trying to. I guess it would be better for me to get off this inside me instead of keeping it. I would never know what would happen to me tomorrow. So, yea.... I like you~ (>,<)
And I am telling it to you.

Yuhuu... It's my very first visit to Schwarzkopf Technical Centre. It's basically located at Commonwealth Mrt. Today's lesson is about the re-launching of the Schwarzkopf Essensity Color range. Nothing major to learn. Just some short brief of the color and the improvement.

So, here we go. Lesson starts at 10.00.Arrived to my designated place at 9.45. That's the Haw Par Technocentre. The Henkel Singapore is based inside this building.

Yea, It's rather a small education and technical centre compared to L'oreal.

Decent product on the shelf.

Pass of the Henkel Office.

This ain't my classroom(hahaha). It's the conference room for the people who is working here.

Yeap. That's the new color range they are re-launching soon in October. It's a non ammonia color.

Shortie, that's me...My hair color is BLACK. That's my real hair color. Ain't colored like my colleagues. I just had my hair washed with the new range color and treated with masque. Woohoo...

What can I say. My hair looks healthy and shiny. Oh yea, not to mention, glossy!

Things Your Hairdresser Really Wants You To Know For Real

It’s hard out there for a hairdresser sometimes. They have to be TALENTED, TACTFUL, EFFICIENT, and up to date on the latest trends and TECHNIQUES. They have to be able to create wearable art on people’s heads while discussing salacious celebrity gossip. I’m totally in awe of the people who do this job, and when I pretend as a random customers going in for a hair cut or color, I always wondering how I can make their job easier in order they don't screw up my hair and walk out with the best possible results. With that in mind, I talked to few many hairdressers friend as I could find and asked them one question: What do you really want your clients to know? Here are their answers, in their own words (and MINE as well) …

1. Bring photos. One thing that always sticks out in my mind is a class at beauty school where we all had a paper and pencil and the instructor described a hair style and we had to draw what we thought she was wanting. No two drawings were even close. If you have an exact idea of what you want your hair to look like, bring a picture. You can even bring in multiple pictures and say ‘these bangs,’ and ‘these layers,’ but if possible, choose photos of people whose hair is a similar texture as yours–the style will be much easier for us to recreate on you.

2. There is no such thing as a “wash and wear” haircut unless you don’t care what you look like. “The only people who can do that are people who don’t mind what their hair looks like when it air dries. There is no haircut or style that will air dry your hair perfectly nice and/or wavy. For every haircut and style out there, you must put the effort into learning to maintain it and taking the time to style it.”

3. Count the products we use on you. You know how good your hair looks when you leave a salon? This is why. You would not believe how many people say they can’t get their hair to do anything and when I ask what products they use they say, ‘None.’ Let us know if you need help choosing the right products for your hair. Don't be cheapskate by opting cheaper products.

4. Celebrity hair is styled. It is always styled. No haircut on the planet is going to make your hair flow like Jennifer Aniston’s. Yes we can give you fabulous layers, yes we can angle your bob, but sorry I will not be in your bathroom every morning applying the heat it takes to get those locks glossy.

5. Don’t change your color too drastically, too frequently. Color touch-ups are okay every 6-12 weeks.  But a big color change like from blonde to dark, or blonde to red should be done 4-6 months after your last color service.  Your hair needs time to get healthy again in between each coloring.  If you want a different color change every 6-8 weeks, your hair will become damaged and less likely to take the color properly. Remember that your hair has limits–it doesn’t have nine lives like One Piece!

6. For updo's, dirty hair isn’t always better. ”Clean hair is sometimes better as it can be easier to work with. You can always give the hair a dirty or day-old look by using lots of good products as the updo is being put together, plus it’s nice to have clean hair for you special day.”

7. Don’t be afraid of bangs. Some people believe they cannot pull them off, but bangs are actually a flattering and versatile look. Your stylist can tell you which type is best for you as there are many: long, short, angled, fringe. Bangs will always need proper styling and the right products to hold them in place, but a little work is totally worth it.

8. For hair color appointments, come with clean and dry hair.  If hair is clean, the color will absorb properly. If the hair is dirty, the color may not take as well. Colors are much more gentle now than they used to be, so dirty hair is more difficult for color to cut through. Please don't come right after your gym for godness sake.

9. If your hairstylist tells you that your request is going to fry your hair, listen. We are not being cutesy and trying to get out of a little hard work. It means your hair will not lay flat, it will not be shiny, and no one is going to envy what’s happening on your head. If you still want to proceed, budget to get a deep conditioning masque, because what you currently have will not be enough.

10. Don’t blame us if we give you exactly what you asked for. Hairstylists want to make people feel beautiful and happy. If you tell us to take you from rich brown to a strawberry blonde, don’t get mad at us when you realize you looked better brown. We take pride in our work, especially when we nail the client’s request, and it’s hard when people don’t appreciate that.

11. We can make you look fabulous, but we can’t work miracles. As a hairdresser, there can be many pressures, and with all of the reality shows and makeover shows right now, people’s expectations are set higher than ever. A good hairdresser can help you to an extent, and a good hairstyle can make a big difference, but we can never give you a face lift, change your skin tone, or make you look 30 pounds skinnier (believe it or not, we get that request a lot!).
