Less is more, bad is good, wrong is right, ugly is chic... These juxtapositions, when done right, can be the epitome of cool. Problem is, over-studied fashion mantras are best left to uber-cool pros, rock stars and the Olsen twins. Not everyone can pull off the anti-establishment look - that is, look greasy yet appear posh at the same time (okay, enough with the Mary Kate and Ashley cracks)

A little fashion tact can, however, go a long way for both amateur stylista and sartorial simpletons. Vanilla styles will always grant a pristine chic, but in the same name of subversion, mess up that mane of perfect curls just so, don an oversized and silly pair of cat-eye glasses or substitute a stuffed burden for an Ascot-ready picture hat. Come on, don't hit the fashion snooze button now!
